We
offer 32% or lower fills.
Lois Ann Dive Charters
is proud to be the only San Diego boat with the ability
to fill nitrox tanks on-board. The installation of
a Nitrox Membrane System by Undersea Breathing
Systems, Inc. was the first of it's type on any California
Dive Boat. This installation was engineered personally
by Charles Townsend, President of Compressed
Air Specialties, Inc.,
Anaheim, CA.
We do have the capability
to fill and refill our Nitrox tanks on the Lois Ann
during your trip, but it is
necessary for the crew to have your Nitrox requests
a few days before your trip date. This
allows us to have your tanks ready to go. We
do store 32% to speed up the process, mixes other
than 32% to fill your personal tank require the system
to be hot, something that we cannot accomplish on
the first trip of the day on a run to wreck alley.
There simply is not enough time. If
you have Nitrox needs or questions, please contact
us in advance so that we can work to satisfy your
requirements. We
are able to make a limited amount of nitrox on a trip,
but our system and supply has limits.
The main advantage to
the DNAx system is that pure oxygen is never present,
eliminating the requirement for O2 cleaned cylinders.
While our nitrox is filtered twice to remove hydrocarbons
it should not be considered to be "O2
Clean". We use Grade E Air to supply the membrane
which separates nitrogen and oxygen in the air, dumps
some of the nitrogen as a waste gas, and then recompresses
the remaining oxygen-rich gas (nitrox) into a scuba
cylinder. We analyze the contents in your presence
so you are assured it was done properly. Nitrox divers
on our charters have the option of bringing their
own tanks or using the AL 80's supplied on the boat.
